Welcome to the home of Chingford’s oldest and finest youth Organisation, 27F (Chingford) Squadron, Air Training Corps.
The Squadron was originally formed in 1937 as part of the Air Defence Cadet Corps. Following on from the formation of the Royal Air Force, in 1941 the Air Training Corps replaced the Air Defence Cadet Corps as a national youth organisation and launched with 50 Squadrons across Britain, to help start this new youth organisation – the first 50 formed held the honour of being denoted by the suffix of F after their number, meaning founder Squadron.
For many years, 27F Squadron has been providing adventurous and fun opportunities to many young local people, in particular, with flying and gliding with our parent organisation the Royal Air Force. Members of the ATC take part in many sporting events competing with like-minded young people, not just locally but nationally. Members are taught leadership and inter-personal skills, allowing them to take part in many exciting training expeditions’ opportunities; giving those new skills a real challenge.
As well as flying, gliding, sport and adventurous training, members also get the opportunity to travel and attend training camps, plus gain qualifications’ to support their futures.
With 27F Squadron you can take part in many public events in London and across the country, so you really could not be part of a better youth organisation - If your 13yrs old, Why not get in touch and find out more about being part of 27F Squadron and join the Air Cadets, the next generation.
